Message To apply to our case directly, remember the NA that Ash and them put turbo's on? This is a very good example.

With the same type of engine, same turbos, same everything, the car Ash did made about the same HP as the lower compression turbo version, but quite a lot less torque, due to the higher compression and lower boost.

With the same engine setup but pistons, you can either run higher compression/lower boost, or lower compression/higher boost. Running more boost gives you a higher effective displacement since you're fitting a higher volume of air/fuel into the same space, and therefore you'd make more torque.

The turbo'd NA Z32 made 340 rwhp/340 rwtq, my TT made 339 rwhp/389 rwtq. I had a lower CR, could run higher boost, and therefore made more torque. Also, their car was tuned to the brink of detonation, while mine is still a bit conservative (JWT) and I could run a bit more boost, making even more torque.
